|Fixed Rate Plans||
Great Eastern Energy only offers fixed rate plans, where the price of electricity per kilowatt-hour or the price of natural gas per therm remains the same for the entire contract period. 12 month contract periods can be a good deal for natural gas, since the price of natural gas varies a lot during one year, and you may be able to save if you lock in your price per therm during the winter, when prices are actually lower. For electricity however, contracts are normally better for periods of longer than 12 months. The added value of green energy could make 12 month electricity contracts a good idea for some consumers.
Service begins with Great Eastern Energy within 1-3 months, or billing cycles with your local utility.
After switching to service with Great Eastern Energy, you will still receive only one bill from your utility.
Green plans with Great Eastern Energy support Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) which support the generation of green energy elsewhere in the United States. REC also support renewable energy projects, helping to fund new developments in renewable energy. These RECs offset your electricity usage.
The company has an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau, for handling customer complaints well.
Customers are often pleased with savings on fixed rate plans with the company, however others wish that rates did not become variable at the end of their contract period.
