You have a few options for paying your bill online, depending on how you would like to pay.
If you would like to pay your bill from your checking/savings account, you can pay your bill online through your online NYSEG account. Here you have three options:
- Make a one time e-payment: simply log on to your online NYSEG account to pay your bill. You have the option of submitting your banking information (complete routing number and bank account number) and saving it so that you only have to enter the last four digits each subsequent time you return to make a payment.
- Alternatively, you can sign up for e-billing and receive your bills online (and go paperless) and pay your bill online, or sign up for automated payment (see below)
- You may also want to consider signing up for NYSEG's Autopay electronic funds transfer plan, which will allow you to avoid paying late fees
If you would like to pay by credit or debit card, keep in mind that NYSEG uses a secure third party service to process credit/debit card payments, called KUBRA. You can pay online, on KUBRA's website or through the NYSEG website (which will direct you to KUBRA). KUBRA accepts Visa, MasterCard, Discover cards, along with bank/ATM cards displaying the Pulse or STAR logos. Note that KUBRA charges a $2.95 processing fee for payments up to $5,000, and $9.95 for payments above $5,000 (to a limit of $25,000). This service fee will be charged to your credit card and not to your NYSEG, as it is not NYSEG but KUBRA that receives the bill.
To pay your NYSEG bill by credit/debit card with KUBRA, you will need to have your 11-digit NYSEG account number handy, along with your NYSEG bill and your card information. Keep in mind that you should allow three business days for the payment to be posted to your account, meaning that you should make the payment at least three business days before the late payment due date posted on your bill. Contact NYSEG customer service at 1-800-572-1111 if you make a mistake on your payment and/or need assistance.
Autopay electronic funds transfer
NYSEG's Autopay electronic funds transfer is a recurring payment plan for your electric and/or gas bill. Through it, NYSEG deducts the amount due on your bill from your bank account 23 days after NYSEG mails your bill. The main advantage of choosing a recurring payment plan is that you can avoid late payment penalties, and save time month to month.
However, you should make sure that you will always have enough money in the account to cover your bill, in order to avoid having a situation where a payment can't be made and you are charged insufficient funds fees.
To enroll in Autopay you will need to submit a form online or complete the form on the back of your NYSEG bill payment stub. Once successfully enrolled, your bill will display the date your payment will be deducted and your bill payment stub will display "AUTOPAY" in the "Amount Paid" box.
You will need to provide the following information to enroll in Autopay:
- Your 11-digit NYSEG number
- You name (exactly how it appears on your bank statement
- Your full address
- Your email address
- The 9-digit routing number of your bank account
- Your bank account number, and the name of your bank
Over the Phone
To make a payment over the phone, call 1-800-600-2275. Note that NYSEG accepts payment from your checking/savings account. You will need to use the secure third party service KUBRA to pay by credit/debit card. Call NYSEG customer support at 1-800-572-1111 if you need help with your payment through KUBRA.
Received a Termination Notice?Call 1-888-315-1755 before making a payment at a pay agent in order to set up a special payment arrangement.

Pay at a NYSEG Office
NYSEG has 13 office locations that are able to accept bill payments. You can either make a payment during their office hours (Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; closed weekends and holidays), or drop off your payment in one of their dedicated drop off boxes located outside the offices.
Note that NYSEG accepts payment by cash, check, or money order.

You can use an approved pay agent to pay your NYSEG bill in person. Approved pay agents are at any Walmart or Kmart location, and can process payment so that it is posted to your account the next business day. They accept cash, money orders or payments using debit cards with PIN code access (some may also accept checks). Keep in mind, however, that they do charge a convenience fee for their services, which may vary depending on the location.
Make sure to bring your NYSEG bill pay stub with you when you make a payment with an approved pay agent. You can find the nearest approved Kmart or Walmart agent on NYSEG's website.

Budget billing enables you to spread out your bill equally over the year. NYSEG will estimate your energy usage over the whole year, and spread out the payments equally, so that even though both the price of electricity and your consumption will change every month, you will be paying the same amount. Residential customers who own country houses, camps, or other types of secondary homes may be eligible for NYSEG's seasonal billing advantages. To be qualified, you must be using little or no electricity in your secondary residence for 6 - 8 consecutive months.
Payment assistance programs
There are various payment assistance programs for people who have difficulty in paying their bill due to low income, medical difficulties, or for other reasons.
There are 2 assistance programs with NYSEG:
- Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP): this is a federal grant program which helps eligible customers in paying for energy costs, repairs and weatherization. Customers may receive either a regular monthly payment, or an emergency one-time payment. For the 2014 - 2015 period, the funds opened November 17, 2014, and closed on March 27, 2015. The Department of Social Services will accept applications on or after those dates.

Another option is NYSEG's Energy Assistance Program (EAP): this is a program created by NYSEG (not a federal program). Customers eligible for HEAP are automatically eligible for EAP.
There are two types of EAP grants:
- EAP monthly credit: once enrolled in the EAP you will receive a monthly credit on your NYSEG bill.
- EAP limited benefit: your account balance, if positive (you owe NYSEG money) is placed on hold at the time of enrollment, for a certain period of time.
